About
"Incorporating nature into your everyday life and incorporating ethical values into your life"
"mushco" is the first brand in Japan to specialize in "mushroom leather," a new sustainable leather-like material derived from mushroom mycelium.
Our mission
Through the possibilities of new, unique and sustainable mushroom-derived materials, each with a different pattern
We will propose a new form of society based on the theme of sustainable well-being.

What is mushroom leather (mushroom skin)?

A unique pattern in the world
It features a unique pattern that can only be achieved with natural materials. The shades of color and unevenness that occur during the mushroom growth process occur randomly in each piece of leather, allowing you to enjoy a one-of-a-kind product that is just for you.

Lightweight and warm texture
A special sensation that soothes the soul every time it touches your hand. Just by touching it, you can feel the warmth of nature, and a sense of gentleness spreads. It fits in your hand like air, bringing a sense of comfort and security every time you use it.

Sustainable materials for the future
This new leather material, made from mushroom mycelium, offers a new sustainable alternative to animal and synthetic leather, spreading the ideas of environmental protection and animal welfare, and spreading eco-friendly values for future generations.
"Mushrooms weave a message for the next generation"
◆Environmental impact of leather manufacturing
Compared to traditional animal-based leather, mushroom leather is an extremely environmentally friendly material, requiring only 1/4000 of the water, 1/800 of the land, and 1/12 of the time to produce the same amount of leather (compared to traditional cowhide leather). Furthermore, mushroom leather can be produced without the use of petroleum, and is made from renewable mushroom mycelium that grows in just two weeks.

◆Material characteristics
Due to social factors such as animal welfare, the move away from oil, and the promotion of domestic forestry, it is a material that is expected to become increasingly popular in the future.
◆The future that will come true
In particular, sawdust from domestic timber is used as the medium for growing the mushrooms that form the basis of mushroom leather. This makes it particularly attractive as it has the potential to create new uses for domestic timber through the widespread use of this material, as well as increase demand for and value of timber in Japan.

Through the new possibilities of mushrooms
Towards the next society and global environment
Nice to meet you. I'm Yoshihiko Hino, the representative of mushco.
Through my experience studying mushrooms, wood, and forestry at graduate school of science, I became fascinated with the possibilities of mushroom leather (mushroom skin) and founded mushco.
The name mushco comes from "mush" (mushroom) and "co" (together). Through the new possibilities of mushrooms, which are environmentally friendly and have unique and sustainable patterns, we hope to provide a way to contribute to the next generation of society and the global environment while enjoying fashion .
